Facial nerve anatomy
This was an illustration I created using the incredible Procreate drawing app for the iPad. I enjoy digital drawing and painting as well as 3D illustration and have been developing this more traditional effect over the last few years.
The facial nerve (cranial nerve VII) is a mixed cranial nerve with motor, sensory, and parasympathetic components, playing a crucial role in facial expression, taste, and certain glandular secretions. Its motor fibers innervate the muscles of facial expression, the stapedius muscle in the middle ear, and the posterior belly of the digastric and stylohyoid muscles.
