Bones of the foot
This illustration was created using my comprehensive model of the skeletal system. Rendered using 3D software and composited in Photoshop. The human foot contains 26 bones, organized into three main regions: the tarsals, metatarsals, and phalanges. The tarsals—seven in total—form the posterior portion of the foot and include the talus (which articulates with the tibia and fibula to form the ankle joint) and the calcaneus (the heel bone), along with the navicular, cuboid, and three cuneiform bones (medial, intermediate, and lateral).
